Every Story Has Two Sides | Jealousy and Understanding

Characters:

Rohan – Husband

Reeva – Wife

Ankita – Daughter

Divya – Friend

Every Story Has Two Sides: Rohan, along with his wife and their only daughter, was out for dinner at a small, famous restaurant. Their daughter Ankita, who was just 5 years old, loved outings wherever they could be.

Rohan always liked to keep his wife Reeva happy in whatever way he could and always made time for them, even though he was very busy with his construction work as a Civil Engineer and builder with his own construction projects.

They ordered food to their tastes, and after finishing their meal, they signaled the waiter to bring the bill.

The final act of giving tips to the waiter was done by Ankita, who was quite generous by nature.

After paying the bill, they proceeded towards their vehicle, which was parked nearby.

Rohan, as usual, was holding Ankita’s hand, and Reeva was a little behind as she was busy checking her mobile. Suddenly, from behind, Rohan heard someone calling out, “Rohan,” and as he turned, a very pretty-looking girl came and hugged him.

Rohan is Taken Aback – The Surprise Meeting

Rohan was taken aback. “Wow, Divya, it’s you! Hey, how are you? It’s been such a long time.” There was so much excitement on Rohan’s face that he let go of Ankita’s hand, which he didn’t even realize, and just kept talking with Divya.

Divya was his college friend, a very close friend whom he met after 6-7 years. After their graduation day, they had never heard of each other as Divya was away in the US for further studies.

Divya was excited too, “Rohan, the handsome man, you still look the same, handsome as ever.”

Rohan and Divya were so much involved in catching up that Rohan forgot to introduce his wife and his daughter to Divya.

Their closeness and attachment to each other made Reeva a bit angry. Moreover, a greater part of it was jealousy; her blood was boiling inside.

Ankita slowly asked her mother, “Mama, who is she?”

“Maybe your Dada’s girlfriend?” and then she looked the other way, ignoring them. At that moment, Rohan happened to look at Reeva, and simultaneously, Divya said to Rohan, “Rohan, what a beautiful wife and daughter you have.”

Rohan, “Oh yes, sorry, I just forgot to introduce them to you. This is my wife Reeva and my daughter Ankita.”

“Oh, nice family. Ankita looks so much like you, so pretty,” Divya said.

The taunting question by Ankita

“Are you my Dada’s girlfriend?” Ankita asked.

“Oh yes, I am,” Divya said laughingly, “we were such good friends in college.”

Reeva’s face had turned black. She didn’t even bother to smile or ask Divya anything.

“Come on, Rohan, I have to go. Hey, Rohan, let’s keep in contact. Here is my mobile number,” and they shared their numbers.

The Two Sides of the Story Reeva or Shanti

Shanti’s Perspective: A Surprise Encounter

Rohan said, “It was so great to see you, felt happy,” and they hugged each other, parting ways.

Rohan held Ankita’s hand, and they went to sit in the car. Reeva, as usual, took the front seat, and Ankita sat in the back.

“Ankita, where shall we go today to have ice cream?” Rohan asked.

“Let’s go home directly. I don’t want anything now,” Reeva said angrily.

At this moment, Ankita said, “No, Mama, I want ice cream.”

Reeva turned back and gave a hard look at Ankita.

Ankita, a good girl, just remained silent.

Rohan was angry, looked at Reeva, and just remained silent.

Reeva or Shanti – The Other Side – Two Sides of the Story

Now, that was a bad outing, a bad dinner outing. Who was the spoiled brat here? Therefore, let’s rewind the storyline. We will replace Reeva with Shanti (Interchange) and see what happens – Every Story Has Two Sides.

Characters:

Rohan – Husband

Shanti– Wife

Ankita – Daughter

Divya – Friend

After finishing dinner, Rohan, as usual, was holding Ankita’s hand and walking towards where the car was parked.

Shanti was a little behind, scanning through her mobile.

“Rohan… Rohan…”

Well, Rohan heard someone calling, and suddenly, a pretty-looking woman came from behind and hugged Rohan.

It was his close, naughty college friend Divya.

Rohan was taken aback. “Hey, Divya, after such a long time. Where have you been?”

They both got involved talking so much, as we can understand since they were meeting after maybe 6-7 years.

Shanti interrupted them and said, “Hey, we are here too. By the way, I am Rohan’s wife, and she is our daughter, Ankita.”

Divya said, “So lovely! How are you? Ankita, you look so much like Rohan.”

“Well, I am Rohan’s close college friend, the ever-naughty friend, right, Rohan?”

“Of course, we always kept fighting like little kids,” Rohan said.

Shanti said, “Anyway, Rohan, since you two have met after many years, why don’t you invite Divya for lunch tomorrow?”

“Great!” Rohan said.

“That would have been so lovely, but I have a flight tomorrow night back to the US. I wish I could make it. Anyway, thank you so much for inviting me.”

“Divya: next time when I am down, I will surely join you for lunch, okay?”

“Hmm,” Shanti said.

“Shanti, please take my contact number. We will be in touch always.”

(Here they shared their numbers, and then Divya left, saying bye)

Rohan went towards his parked car feeling happy, and as they sat, Rohan asked Ankita, “Let’s go have ice cream?”

“Sure… hey, Dada, I love you.”

Ankita was happy, and so was Shanti.

Rohan smiled at Shanti, and she, in turn, smiled back.

That was a good outing, a happy outing.

Moral of the Story: The Power of Trust and Communication

This story emphasizes the importance of trust, open communication, and understanding within a family.

Trust and Open Communication: Trust and communication are the pillars of any healthy relationship. In both scenarios with Reeva and Shanti, trust and open communication played a significant role. Shanti, instead of letting jealousy and anger take over, communicated openly and trusted her husband, resulting in a happier outcome.
