Sad Love Story - The Most Emotional Love Story

Sad Love Story – Aarav was nineteen years old and in his second year of college. He was a quiet boy, with simple dreams and a kind heart. Every day he sat near the window in his classroom, looking out at the green trees and thinking about his future. One day, his future suddenly seemed to get a new face and a new name.

Her name was Meera. She was eighteen, from the next class, and she had a soft smile that made her eyes shine. Aarav first saw her in the college library, sitting alone with a big book and a small packet of biscuits. She dropped one biscuit, and it rolled near his foot. When he picked it up and gave it back, their fingers touched for a second. Meera laughed and said, “Thank you,” in a gentle voice. From that moment, Aarav’s heart started beating a little faster whenever he saw her.

Sad Love Story – College days

Over the next few weeks, Aarav and Meera met many times. At first, they talked only about books, exams, and teachers. Soon they started sharing small things: favorite movies, songs, and dreams. Aarav told her he wanted to become an engineer and help build safe houses for poor people. Meera said she wanted to become a teacher and make learning fun for children who did not have many chances in life.

They began to sit together in the canteen, sharing tea and samosas. They studied together in the library before exams. When one of them was sad, the other noticed at once. Slowly, without even saying the words, they fell in love.

On the last day of their second year, Aarav took Meera to the old banyan tree behind the college. His hands were shaking. He said, “Meera, I don’t know many big words. But I know that when you are with me, everything feels right. I think…I love you.” Meera’s eyes filled with tears, and she smiled. “I love you too, Aarav,” she said. They did not need anything more. Their hearts were engaged, even if there were no rings or big ceremonies.

Strong love and quiet secrets

They continued to study, work hard, and support each other. When Meera got low marks in one test, Aarav stayed up all night to help her prepare for the next one. When Aarav failed in a small project, Meera encouraged him and reminded him of his dreams. Their love was simple but strong. Teachers joked that they were “the future husband and wife of this college.”

They completed their graduation together. On the day of the graduation ceremony, Meera’s parents and Aarav’s parents met and smiled at each other. Everyone could see the love between the two young people. They took many photos in their black gowns, laughing and holding their certificates.

After graduation, they still talked every day. They made plans: Aarav would find a job, Meera would start a teacher training course, and later they would marry. Everything looked bright.

But after one year, something started to change.

Meera slowly began to pull away. At first, she replied late to Aarav’s messages. Then she said she was busy and could not meet that week. Some days she did not pick up his calls. When they met, she smiled, but the smile did not reach her eyes. She seemed tired, as if carrying a heavy secret in her heart.

Aarav became nervous and confused. He thought, “Did I make her angry? Did I do something wrong?” He checked his messages again and again, trying to see if he had hurt her by mistake. His friends noticed that he was quiet and restless. But Aarav did not want to talk to anyone about it. He only wanted to understand Meera.

The strange meeting

One evening, Meera finally called Aarav and asked him to meet her at a small park they both knew. Aarav felt both happy and scared. Maybe now she would tell him what was wrong. Maybe they would solve everything.

When he reached the park, he saw Meera standing near a bench with a young man. The man was tall and looked a bit like her. Meera’s face was very serious.

“Aarav,” she said, “this is, Rohan.” Then, without looking into Aarav’s eyes, she added, he is my boyfriend. His name is Russel. I do not want to be with you anymore.”

For a moment, Aarav thought he had heard wrong. His head felt light, as if the ground under his feet had disappeared. New boyfriend? Russel? None of it made sense. Rohan looked uncomfortable and kept his eyes down, but he did not speak.

Aarav felt something break inside his chest. He wanted to ask a hundred questions—Why? What happened? What did I do?—but no words came out. His throat was dry, and his heart was burning. Without saying a single word, he turned around and walked away.

Meera watched him go. As soon as he turned the corner, she sat on the bench and cried. (Russel her brother) Russel sat beside her, holding her shoulder. “Are you sure you want to do this?” he asked softly. Meera nodded through her tears. “It’s the only way brother,” she whispered.

Walls between hearts

After that day, Aarav tried many times to contact Meera. He called her again and again, but she did not pick up. He sent long messages, asking what went wrong, begging her to talk just once. Soon he found that she had blocked him on WhatsApp, Instagram, and Facebook. It felt like she had closed all the doors and windows between them.

Aarav became angry as well as sad. He thought, “If she loved me, how could she leave like this? How could she replace me so easily?” He threw his phone on the bed and cried into his pillow at night. He stopped laughing with his friends. He stopped going to the places where they used to meet. The world had color before; now it felt grey.

What Aarav did not know was that every time Meera blocked him, her own hands shook. Every time she saw his missed calls, she cried silently. But she kept telling herself, “This is for his good. If he hates me, then when I am gone, it will hurt him less.”

The hospital truth

One day, Aarav got a message that one of his college friends, Sameer, was very sick and was in the hospital. Aarav rushed there to see him. After talking to the doctors and making sure Sameer was stable, he walked toward the hospital café to get some water.

On the way, he suddenly stopped. At the end of the corridor, he saw a familiar figure. It was Meera. She was walking slowly, her mother holding her arm. Meera looked thinner, her face pale, with a scarf tied around her head. She went into a doctor’s room.

Aarav’s heart started beating fast again, but this time with fear. Why was Meera in a hospital? Why did she look so weak? He wanted to run to her, but his legs did not move. Instead, he watched from far away until the door closed.

The next day, he came again to check on his friend. He saw Meera once more, again with her mother, going to the same doctor. This time he noticed that the doctor was someone he had heard of before—his friend’s friend, Dr. Karan.

Aarav called Sameer and asked, “Can you please ask Dr. Karan why Meera is coming to him? What is wrong with her?” Sameer was surprised, but he agreed to ask quietly.

Later that evening, Sameer called back. His voice was soft and sad. “Aarav,” he said, “Dr. Karan cannot tell all details, but he said the girl you asked about has cancer. It is in the last stage. He said there is not much time left.”

The phone almost slipped from Aarav’s hand. His mind went blank. Cancer. Last stage. Not much time. All the anger inside him melted at once and turned into deep pain. He understood now why Meera had pulled away, why she had lied about a new boyfriend, why she wanted him to hate her. She had been trying to protect his heart from this terrible truth.

Sad Love Story – The last letter

For many days, Aarav could not sleep. He kept thinking of Meera in hospital beds, in pain, trying to smile. He cried every night, holding their old photos. After a week, he made a decision. Whether she wanted it or not, he had to see her. He had to tell her that he still loved her, that he wanted to stand with her, even in the darkest time.

He started asking friends if they knew where Meera lived. Some gave wrong directions, some were not sure. Fifteen days passed in searching and asking, but he did not give up. At last, one old classmate gave him the correct address.

His hands shook as he rang the doorbell of her house. Meera’s mother opened the door. Her eyes were red and tired, as if she had cried for many days. Aarav quickly said, “Aunty, I am Aarav. I studied with Meera. I… I came to see her.”

For a moment, Meera’s mother just looked at him. Then her eyes filled with tears again. She stepped aside and said in a broken voice, “Son, please sit down.”

They sat in the small living room. On the wall, there was a photo of Meera, smiling in her graduation dress. Aarav’s heart twisted when he saw it.

Meera’s mother took a deep breath and said, “Meera… died last week.” The words hit Aarav like a heavy stone. His ears rang. He stared at her, hoping he had heard wrong, but her eyes told him it was true.

“She was very brave,” her mother continued, wiping her tears. “She did not want you to see her in pain. She told us about you. She loved you very much, but she was afraid that if you saw her like that, it would break you. So she made her brother pretend to be someone else, to make you angry with her. She wanted you to move on.”

Then Meera’s mother stood up and went to a small drawer. She came back with an envelope. Aarav could see his own name written on it in Meera’s neat handwriting.

“Before she died,” her mother said softly, “she told me, ‘If any boy comes to search for me, and his name is Aarav, give him this letter.’”

Sad Love Story

With shaking hands, Aarav opened the envelope. Inside was a simple letter, written in blue ink. The words were short and easy, the way Meera always wrote when she wanted to be very clear.

“Dear Aarav,” it said, “I love you. I always loved you. I am sorry I hurt you. I did not want you to see me sick and sad. Please be happy. Please live your life fully. No matter where I am, I will always love you.”

The tears fell freely from Aarav’s eyes as he read. He pressed the letter to his heart and closed his eyes. The pain was deep, but there was also a strange warmth. Even in her last days, Meera had been thinking of him, trying to save him from hurt.

He looked up at her photo on the wall and whispered, “I love you too, Meera. I always will.” The Sad Love Story to be continued…
